ACROBAY Gymnastics Club brought their own brand of magic to Dunfermline last weekend when they returned to the Alhambra Theatre for their fifth triumphant year with their show, Gymtasia: Fairytales.

More than 180 gymnasts from the West Fife club treated the packed audience to their own unique blend of gymnastics, dance and acrobatics, expertly choreographed to an eclectic mix of music which depicted the best elements of a good fairytale; from whimsical to lyrical to darkly dramatic.

Gymtasia: Fairytales involved the whole club; the tiniest pre-schoolers who stole the show with their confidence and charm, the impressive recreational, development and competition groups and the ever popular Gymtasia Evolution, who unveiled two stunning new routines.

Head coach Suzanne Fraser said, ‘Gymtasia always finishes off our year beautifully; the gymnasts and coaches work incredibly hard during the year and this is a great way for the whole club to come together and celebrate acro gymnastics.

“The club has doubled in numbers this year with the introduction of our recreational classes so it was particularly manic backstage! It all went amazingly though; everyone was fantastic.

“The Alhambra is such a fabulous venue to perform in and to be back for a fifth year is really something special. The theatre staff are fantastic and we’d all like to thank them for their continued support over the years. We love doing what we do and being able to bring it to an appreciative audience is just an amazing feeling.” Acrobay was founded in 2006 with just 20 gymnasts. Today, it has more than 180 members aged three to 40-something and is home to British and Scottish champions, British and international medallists, Scotland squad members and award-winning display team Gymtasia Evolution. Head coach Suzanne Fraser is also head coach of the elite Scotland acro gymnastics squad.
