THERE was more cause for celebration at Acrobay Gymnastics Club last week when they were crowned Scottish Gymnastics’ acrobatic team champions for a record-breaking fourth year in a row.

The West Fife club defended their title at the 2014 team competition in Motherwell on 6th December, which saw gymnastics clubs from across Scotland sending teams of their best gymnasts to the event to battle it out for the honour of being hailed as Scotland’s top team.

Despite competing against some formidable opponents, Acrobay’s gymnasts gave it their all and were rewarded with some of the highest scores of the competition, including many personal bests. The top scores of the day from each club were collated and saw Acrobay reclaim the titles and trophies in both the NDP and FIG sections.

Head coach Suzanne Fraser said, “This is a massive achievement for both the club and acrobatic gymnastics. The discipline is becoming increasingly popular in Scotland, with new clubs forming and more gymnasts trying out acro, so the competition gets more challenging every year.

“They were competing against some great clubs with highly talented gymnasts so they really had their work cut out for them. There was also the added pressure of trying to retain the trophies for the fourth year in a row but they took it all in their stride and performed outstandingly.

“I’m one very proud coach; amazing results and a brilliant end to a fabulous year!”
