A TEAM of young, up and coming footballers from Rosyth have been given a welcome winter boost.

Rosyth Football Club’s newly-formed 2006 team, which is made up of 17 youngsters aged between nine and 10, all received rain jackets from Dunfermline-based windows and conservatories company, CR Smith.

Jim Dyer, coach of the 2006 team, said, “We’re so appreciative to CR Smith for the rain jackets. The team will benefit greatly. Not only will the boys stay dry during training and whilst playing games on a Saturday morning, but the jackets have also given the team a real sense of belonging and togetherness.

“We’re still a relatively new team, having formed in the summer. There’s a great team spirit amongst the boys which is delivering results in training as well as in matches and the jackets have given an extra boost to the team as we prepare for the new season in March.” Rosyth Football Club is giving more young players of all abilities the chance to play football in the Fife Soccer Sevens, an association set up to support the development of young football players and coaches. Teams play each Saturday morning at Pitreavie playing fields.

CR Smith provided 17 rain jackets for the 2006 team, which plays in the ‘fun fives’ sessions.

Gareth McCluskey, head of marketing at CR Smith, said, “As a company we’re committed to encouraging youth development through sport. We were pleased to hear about the formation of a new team, which embraces players of all abilities, and delighted we could help in this way.

“Teamwork, respect and motivation are all important qualities to build and develop and doing so in a fun way through sport, we hope will help to prepare young people for working life.” Rosyth FC’s 2006 team has also had support with its trips from Soccer Nation.
