Cluny Clays was the venue for the second year for the Fife Championships for archers with a learning disability.

Fergus recorded a score of 122 with 18 arrows at 15 metres in the Division 1 competition, well ahead of his team-mate, Wayne Sammut with 89, and Craig Houston, from East Fife CSS, with 87. Wayne and Craig finished in second and third place respectively.

The women’s open brought Andrea Spry and Jemma Hancock together in a head-to-head shoot out with 12 arrows. The two East Fife CSS archers had a close competition with Andrea winning the title with 57 points, two ahead of Jemma.

The mixed Intermediate Division had six participants who shot 12 arrows at 10 metres. Aaron Kean, from West Fife CSS, won the division with 50 points and Lauren Jack (WFCSS) and Tristan Rankine (WFCSS) finished second and third respectively with 32 and 22 points. The intermediate results rounded off an excellent evening for the West Fife archery squad.

GB international para archer David Cowieson, from Dairsie, ran the competition on behalf of DSF with support from Gordon Easton and Carl Paddon. DSF is indebted for the support it receives from the Fife Sports and Leisure Trust and Celebrating Fife with the staging of the four-week sports festival.
