Rebecca, along with Sacha Muir and Jessica Wilson, all aged 14, were selected to compete at the championships at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on 7th March, competing against gymnasts from clubs across Scotland.
The girls all performed to a high standard, each completing three runs, incorporating a complex sequence of somersaults and flips along a 25-metre tumble track.
In an exciting and close-run competition, final results saw Rebecca taking the bronze in the age 13+ National 3 section.
Coach John Drummond said, “The girls were competing against some of Scotland’s best tumble gymnasts and they did themselves proud; they all completed excellent tumbles, reaching full potential.
“The final results were very close and Rebecca narrowly missed qualifying for the British Championships. Sacha and Jessica were competing at tumbling for the first time and did very well. They are all a credit to Acrobay.” However, it was straight back to training for these hardworking and multi-talented gymnasts, as they will also be competing at the upcoming 2015 Scottish Acrobatic Championships; Rebecca with her partner, Katie Junor, in the Grade 4 Women’s Pairs, and Sacha and Jessica in the Grade 3 Women’s Groups with their partner, Emily Burns.
