They battled to the showpiece match, held at East Lothian Indoor Bowling Club, after taking care of Alloa, West Lothian, Fintry and Stirling in the earlier rounds. In the singles Abbeyview’s Len Kerr beat Gerry Mair 21 shots to 10. In the pairs Bert Hunter and Ron Downie secured a 22-15 win over Hughie Christie and Richard Rattray.
In the triples George Kellichan, Alex Glasgow and Duncan Lawson lost by five shots to Midlothian’s Willie Clelland, Willie Burnett and Allan Greig. Abbeyview secured the title and it brought an end to an eventful season with the senior section finishing as runners up in their national league and losing out to Aberdeen in the semi final of the Scottish Cup.
