It was her fourth call up for the national ladies squad and, despite the jetlag, she was in action in the Home International Tournament in Stanley, Perthshire.

Ewing (29), who bowls outdoors at Abbeyview and indoors at Headwell, was involved against eventual winners, England. Scotland won against Ireland and Wales to finish runners-up and the flying doc will be off on her travels once more. She’s off to Guernsey in her role as president of the Scottish Young Bowlers Association to support the national team in a mixed under-17 international tournament. Then it’s Prestwick as West of Scotland face Ireland. It’s been hectic since New Zealand, where she helped Dunfermline bowler Spencer retain her IBD World Outdoor Championship title.

Ewing’s role was director for the visually impaired bowler, using the ‘front coaching’ method she provided the required direction for Spencer’s bowls as well as instruction on the position of bowls up at the head.

The partnership proved fruitful with her winning all six of her games to lift the gold medal.
