DUNFERMLINE number 10 Zac Zropf is hopeful that his team-mates can use victory over Royal High Corstorphine as a launch-pad to avoiding the drop.

The 19-year-old goalkicker was left frustrated by the postponement of Saturday’s match with fellow relegation battlers Dalziel after the Lanarkshire club informed their hosts that they could not travel due to adverse weather conditions in the west.

That denied Derek O’Riordan’s team the chance to move out of the bottom three as fourth-bottom Hawick YM’s match with Dumfries also fell victim to the weather but ahead of Saturday’s trip to East Kilbride, Zropf told Press Sport that their 24-8 win in the capital 12 days ago can be a “good stepping stone” to move forward from.

He said, “Christmas time was pretty tough for us because there were a lot of changes in the squad from week-to-week, and everyone was keen for the game to go ahead at the weekend as we haven’t had a home game for a while. East Kilbride was actually the first game that Harry (Masters) and I played and although we lost by 14 points, we played pretty well. We’re excited to hopefully turn that around.

“RHC and Irvine where we won by a point were tough venues to go to but we’ve shown we can go to these places and win. I think it’s particularly important for us to win the next few games because Hawick are playing some good rugby as well, and it’s probably going to come down to us and them for the final relegation place.

“Everyone believes we’re better than a bottom three side and if we can get more consistent performances then we can be pushing towards the middle of the table.” DUNFERMLINE number 10 Zac Zropf is hopeful that his team-mates can use victory over Royal High Corstorphine as a launch-pad to avoiding the drop.
