EDINBURGH Rugby Club chief executive Nic Cartwright, Scotland internationalist Dave Callam and Scotland A prop Ryan Grant were at Fife Southern Rugby Club, Harley Street, Rosyth recently to present a framed Edinburgh shirt.

The shirt was handed over to mark the fact that Fife Southern are an associate club of Edinburgh Rugby Club, who value their thriving community scheme and relationships with clubs in the east of Scotland, especially in the Fife area.

Dunfermline-born Fraser McKenzie signed as a professional for the club in the summer and he is one of three players currently on the books who originate from Fife.

Since the season started last month, more than 100 schoolchildren from the Dunfermline area have been guests at Edinburgh"s home matches against Munster and Scarlets, an initiative which will continue throughout the 2008/2009 season.

Cartwight said, 'We are really pleased to have Fife Southern on board as one of our associate clubs.

"The enthusiasm shown by Fife Southern president Alan Bradshaw towards the growing relationship has been extremely encouraging and we look forward to welcoming even more clubs from the area to our associate clubs scheme'.

On the park, Southern have had mixed fortunes over the last couple of weeks.

The Sharks were caught cold in Rosyth on Saturday by visitors Atholl Highlanders, who scored four unanswered tries in the first hour.

Touchdowns by Marc Love and Dave Harvey, together with a Richie Devany conversion gave the hosts some consolation in the final 24-12 defeat.

The previous week, tries from Harvey (2), Love and Craig Paterson, together with three conversions and a penalty by Devany gave Southern maximum points against Wade Academy FPs in a 29-28 victory that was more comfortable than the final score suggests.
