UNDER-STRENGTH Aberdour Shinty Club went down 4-0 to Ballachulish in Marine Harvest South Division 1.

The West Fife side were without most of their first-team players after they were caught short by the rescheduled fixture.

With most of her side having booked holidays for this weekend, team manager Lisa Norman had to scramble to find enough players to fulfill their first and second team fixtures.

She said, "We knew there would be a few missing but we had less players than expected and were really struggling for a team.

"Credit to the first-team boys, they thought they were doing the right thing by booking a holiday when there was no game but because of earlier postponements it was rescheduled.

"So we were missing nearly eight first-team guys and had to steal a load from the seconds but that meant I was then trying to help find them players.

"We still managed to get two teams out, which was a great thing, and the team we had out did as well as they could have done but were just beaten by a better side on the day." Aberdour should be back to full strength for the trip to Glasgow Mid Argyll this weekend.

"It was 3-2 in a tight game the last time we played them so here's hoping we can go there and do quite well," continued Lisa.

"The fact that we're getting teams out every week is our goal this year and when we do well it is a bonus.

"It's just about establishing ourselves in the league and I think we've done that.

"We're still competing well in games and, as our player pool increases and experience grows, hopefully the gap between our first and second teams will not be so big."
