ABERDOUR Shinty Club's "incredible journey" to the Bullough Cup final came to a disappointing end as they were crushed 5-0 by Lochside Rovers.

After the pitch at Rothesay proved unplayable the game was swapped to Aberdour, though the home advantage proved no such thing for the Silver Sands side.

Club founder Lisa Norman said, "We probably had the best team out that we could have had.

They have got a lot of experience in their team and that proved to be the difference on the park." Lochside started strongly and went ahead after just two minutes. Goals on 20 and 30 minutes meant the Oban side went into the break with a three-goal advantage.

Two second-half strikes sealed a 5-0 win and ensured the South's area trophy for second string teams headed to Oban.

Lisa added, "It's been an incredible journey and the players have done themselves really proud.

"The way they played in the final was fantastic. They gave it everything and went out to try and win.

"It's just that the better team won on the day and that is all experience that will help them for next season."
