ABERDOUR Shinty Club this week hosted Bute, who were in the Premiership last season but dropped down to South Division 1 after losing out to Oban Camanchd.

Aberdour got off to a flying start, with ex-Lochcarron striker Darren Coyle scrambling one into the net in 15 minutes and John MacLennan blasting another past the keeper in 18 minutes.

Coyle then followed up with another two in quick succession to gain his hat-trick in 35 and 38 minutes.

At half-time, Aberdour found themselves 4-0 up against a shocked Bute side.

After a few 'pointers' from their coach, Bute came out with a determination and skill Aberdour struggled to contain: with Bute's Iain MacDonald blasting one past the Aberdour keeper in 55 minutes and then Graham Fisher scoring another in 60 minutes.

Then came a period where Aberdour appeared to be on the ropes: with Bute's MacDonald and MacCallum claiming another two in quick succession (71 and 73 minutes).

Aberdour's coach Lisa Norman then switched Coyle into defence and Aberdour dug deep and held on until 83 minutes, when a long pass to MacLennan provided the perfect opportunity to finish Bute off with an amazing strike into the back of the net!
