DUNFERMLINE Water Polo Club's combined ladies' team continued their run of good form with an 11-6 win against Menzieshill in an entertaining and competitive match at Carnegie last month.
Menzieshill started the better by going into a 3-1 lead until two goals from Julia MacKay brought Dunfermline back into the game to end the first quarter all-square at 3-3.
The second quarter was equally close with good saves from Chantal Guillot, while goals from Nicola and Alison Tate ensured Dunfermline took a slender 5-4 lead at half-time.
The third quarter was tight with both teams working hard but failing to make a significant breakthrough in attack. Despite exclusions, a penalty and lots of effort only three goals were scored but Dunfermline extended their lead after taking that quarter 2-1.
The West Fifers took a slender 7-5 lead into the fourth quarter but started to impose themselves on the game, all girls rotating through the pool and establishing a strong defensive system to thwart the Menzieshill attacks and defending a number of man-down situations. Four goals from Nicola Tate, Julia MacKay and Alison Tate with only one in reply ensured Dunfermline extended their lead to make the final score 11-6.
Squad list (goals scored): Chantal Guillot, Julia MacKay (4), Nicola Tate (4), Alison Tate (3), Kayleigh Reid, Vicki Reid, Lisa Harkins, Rachel Millar. Victoria Speed, Sara Morrison, Hannah Milner. Coach: Calum Fraser.
