Goalkeeper Thomas (14, pictured) and outfielder Orla (13) have both impressed coaches at a second training weekend in Cardiff next month sufficiently to be selected in the 2001 age group for boys and girls respectively, meaning that they join club-mates Alison Tate (1998 girls) and James Melville (1999 boys) in GB squads.

The trials are held as part of the Aquatic Sports Association’s (ASA) Water Polo Talent Development programme each age group squad will train in at least eight weekend camps throughout the year, mostly in Cardiff. Further selections are made for those age groups competing in European Championships, friendlies and training camps abroad and it represents a significant achievement for the club to have four players picked for GB squads, with competition in England particularly strong.

Meanwhile there were further call-ups at international level for another three members of the club as Jamie Heywood, James Melville and Ross Stewart were all picked for the Scotland Junior (1998+) boys team that will take part in the EU 8 Nations competition in Malta from 3rd-5th April.
