Agonisingly for the Disability Sport Fife member, he was 1.2 seconds outside the time he needed at the Tollcross Pool in Glasgow.
Rodgie was in the pool for the British Para-Swimming International Meet, the format was multi-classification events.
Medals were presented to swimmers with the highest number of points, closest to the world record for their class, but the Edinburgh University Swim Squad member did not have the best of starts. Rodgie suffered a disqualification for a false start in his first event.
Not surprisingly the GB London Paralympian pulled himself together and achieved ‘B’ finals in his other events, excelling in the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle.
He swam a personal best in the 100m backstroke of 1:04.45, this placed him top S14 swimmer in Great Britain, finishing ahead of all S14’s in the A final.
In a day of near misses, Rodgie’s 200m freestyle time was just one second outside his best ever time which was set last year when qualifying for the Commonwealth Games.
