Records for swimmer as InCAS finish fourth

THE final weekend of the East District Age Group Swimming Championships took place at the Fife Institute, Glenrothes, with InCAS Swimming Club having an outstanding competition.

The girls" 10/11 years age group saw some quite superb swimming with Rachel O"Donnell winning the 100m butterfly final in 1:11.59 which was a Scottish age group and East District record.

In the 100m freestyle O"Donnell won her heat in a new Scottish age group time of 1:04.64. In the next heat, InCAS swimmer Chelsea Lawson, just back from long term injury, beat O"Donnell"s time to set another Scottish age group record of 1:04.50.

A third InCAS swimmer, Laura-Kate O"Brien, qualified in fourth place for the final in an excellent personal best time of 1:07.03.

The final was touch and go up to the final five metres with both O"Donnell and Lawson once again beating the Scottish age group record.

O"Donnell took the gold in 1:04.07 and Lawson the silver in 1:04.39 with O"Brien winning bronze in a 1-2-3 for InCAS.

Lawson won the 100m backstroke final in an East District record time of 1:12.40 with O"Donnell second, also beating the ED record in 1:13.05 with O"Brien sixth.

The girls" 12/13 years age group saw Eilidh Brown win two bronze medals both in personal bests in the 100m backstroke and 100m breaststroke.

Team mate Samantha MacMillan (12) made two finals, the 100m back and 100m fly.

The boys" 12/13 group saw Great Britain squad water polo player Chris Campbell finish sixth in the 100m front crawl in an excellent personal best beating the one minute barrier in 59.94.

The girls" 14/15 years group saw 14-year-old Roisin Donnelly win a silver in the 100m breaststroke.

The 16+ boys age group saw British Masters 50m fly record holder Craig Holmes have a good 100m fly swim breaking the Scottish Masters record in a time of 1:00.55.

The girls" 10/11 relay team of O"Brien, Erin Brown, O"Donnell and Lawson won silver in both the 4x50m medley and front crawl relays.

The girls" 12/13 age group saw Leah Marshall, Eilidh Brown, Samantha MacMillan and Kayleigh Hutton win silver in the 4x50m medley.

O"Donnell won the 10/11 years age group top award and also the Andrew Taylor Award for outstanding swim of the championships for her 200m individual medley swim, which smashed the Scottish age group record by 4.5 seconds.

With only a handful of swimmers the InCAS finished fourth overall in the East District.
