THE latest event in Dunfermline & West Fife Sports Council"s series of 14 sports festivals took place on Wednesday at the new Duloch Leisure Centre.
It was an outdoor hockey festival and involved nearly 150 pupils in 18 teams from 11 West Fife primary schools.
After the preliminary matches both semi-finals were decided by the golden goal rule. That resulted in Dalgety Bay "A" taking on Townhill "A" in the play-off for the third and fourth spot. Dalgety Bay grabbed third place with a 2-0 win.
In the final Donibristle beat Aberdour 2-1. The finalists have now qualified for the national primary hockey festival in Edinburgh on 4th June.
Officials from Dunfermline Carnegie Hockey Club were in charge on the day and Dr Gordon Johnston, from the sports council, and Andrew Stewart, of the Fife Sports & Leisure Trust, made the presentations to the top four teams.
All pupils received a certificate and a voucher for a free swim at one of the nine swimming pools operated by Fife Sports and Leisure Trust.
The sports festival series is arranged by the sports council in partnership with the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust and Fife Council and features athletics, badminton, cricket, hockey, pop lacrosse and tennis.
