EIGHT youngsters from Dunfermline Water Polo Club have just returned from the Great Britain National Academy Water Polo camp in Somerset.
Darren and Christopher Campbell, Andrew Melville, Zach Thomson, Craig Wilkinson, Jake Hinley, Kerry Falconer and Nicola Tate took part in a week of swimming and water polo training from top coaches at Millfield School.
Daily training consisted of one and a half hours of swimming followed by strength and conditioning training; a two-hour water polo training session and training games in the evening.
Over the course of the five-day camp the youngsters took part in 28 hours of training.
The National Academy is the first step towards the Great Britain senior teams.
And, as well as this camp, the youngsters also attend monthly training days in Manchester and Birmingham.
The kids are following in the footsteps of fellow club member Andrew Woodall, who is now part of the junior men"s squad.
In May, the team travelled to Bulgaria to take part in the European championships.
Andrew also attends regular training sessions with the rest of his team.
Three of the Dunfermline club"s adult members were also in Somerset.
Brian Campbell took part in the UKCC level 2 coaching water polo course while Brenda Tate carried out levels 1 and 2 of the team manager"s course.
In addition, Alan Donaldson was a tutor on the water polo coaching course.
Anyone interested in making a splash and trying water polo can come along for a taster session, details of which can be found on the club"s website.
