THE Commonwealth Games were officially opened last night (Wednesday) and two West Fife swimmers are aiming to make a splash on day one of competition.
After the dazzling opening ceremony at Celtic Park, Kathryn Johnstone and Rachael O'Donnell (pictured) will take to the pool today (Thursday) as the swimming events get underway.
Dunfermline-born Johnstone, who competes for Edinburgh University, is up first at 11.35am in the 50m breaststroke heats while Carnegie Swimming Club's O'Donnell will compete in the 4x100m freestyle at 12.56pm.
Johnstone will also compete in the 100m breaststroke tomorrow (Friday) and the 4x100m medley on Tuesday, while O'Donnell races in the 4x200m freestyle on Saturday.
