PARS youngster James Thomas has left the club after his contract was mutually terminated.

The 19-year-old's contract was due to expire on December 30 and Athletic have announced that both parties have decided to go their separate ways to allow the teenager to find a new club.

Thomas burst onto the scene two years ago when he made his first team debut from the bench and scored in a 3-0 win over Peterhead, but two lengthy spells out with injury stalled his progress.

He featured just twice in the first team last season and made two appearances in this campaign, the last of which came in July's Betfred Cup tie at Dundee United.

The forward appeared as a substitute before being taken off with injury in what turned out to be his final top team appearance for the Pars.

A statement on the Pars' website said: "DAFC and James Thomas have today mutually agreed to the early termination of the player`s contract.

"James` contract was due to expire on 30th December 2016. This will allow James more time to find a new club.
"We wish James well in his future career, and thank him for efforts over the last few years."
