FUTURE stars of Athletic are set to benefit from the legacy of late director Margaret Ross thanks to a Pars Supporters Trust initiative.

Following Margaret's sudden and untimely passing in December, the PST have announced the launch of the 'Margaret Ross Memorial Fund' as a lasting tribute to their friend and colleague.

The PST, of which Margaret served as chair from its inception, aim to make an annual contribution to individuals or projects within the under-20 or youth team set-up at East End Park in her memory.

Drew Main, the PST's interim chair, said: "Whilst Margaret immersed herself in so many groups and projects within the Pars family, she always had a soft spot for the welfare of our under-20 players, or youngsters who are making their way through the youth system. Our intention is to ring fence money from a couple of fundraising events throughout the year specifically for the Memorial Fund, which we will then use for the benefit of our younger players, with the idea being that we can provide funds in this way on an annual basis in Margaret’s memory."

Pars chairman Ross McArthur commented: "This is a fantastic way for Margaret's memory to be preserved within the Pars family. As Drew highlights, Margaret was always thinking about the younger players at our club and making sure they had every opportunity to achieve their goals. I am sure she would be proud of her PST colleagues continuing to ensure the younger players at our club are looked after."

The first fundraising event contributing to the fund is the sold-out PST Curry Night at the Royal Bengal, which will take place next Tuesday.
