THE transfer window may be closed but Allan Johnston says further business could still be done at East End Park.

As the clock struck midnight on Tuesday there were no new additions made by the Pars boss, leaving Callum Morris as the club’s only fresh recruit in January.

There was movement out of Athletic as Conner Duthie and Scott Lochhead joined Stenhousemuir and Clyde respectively on development loans but, despite also seeing Cammy Gill and Euan Spark go out on temporary deals and losing Farid El Alagui, Johnston is satisfied with the size and strength of his squad.

Speaking to Press Sport this week, he has not ruled out bringing in fresh faces and revealed that he would be interested in securing on-loan Blackpool midfielder John Herron on a permanent basis in the summer.

“It’s difficult at this time time of year because there’s not many options, though you’re still getting texts from agents and clubs,” Johnston revealed.

“You’ve got to make sure you’re bringing in the right quality and that it’s someone who’s going to be competing for a first-team place. There’s still emergency loans and people who get freed; that happens a lot, people who aren’t happy at clubs maybe get freed and aren’t tied down, so there’s still a lot of options left.”

On Herron, he continued: “He’s definitely someone we’d look at because you can see he’s got ability. He’s at a great age but I’d imagine there would be a few teams interested. It’s a wee bit early to say but he’s been very consistent, has good energy levels, gets about the park and has good skill. He’s playing really well just now so I’m delighted he’s committed his future for the rest of the season.”

Meanwhile, Johnston said he was encouraged by his side’s display against Dundee United and wants them to lay a marker for their play-off ambitions tomorrow.

The Pars travel to face bitter rivals Falkirk, who occupy fourth place and are eight points ahead, and Johnston added: “It would be brilliant to win, especially against one of your rivals and gets you a step closer to them and that final play-off place. It’s an important game; there’s not much between the teams and their win at the weekend will give them confidence. But that performance against Dundee United will give our boys a lot of confidence so it has the makings of a good game.”

Tickets for the match will be on sale at the club shop tomorrow from 10am-12pm.

As it stands, there will be no option for Pars fans to buy tickets on the day at the Falkirk Stadium.
