DUNFERMLINE are set to face more fixture disruption next month as their league match with Dundee United is set to be moved due to the Irn-Bru Cup final.

But their trip to Morton next Tuesday is set to be switched to a Saturday as a result.

The Pars are scheduled to make the trip to Tannadice on March 25 for the final meeting of the campaign but United's involvement in cup competition means it is will be moved to midweek.

Athletic were out of action on Saturday as scheduled opponents Queen of the South faced the Taysiders in the semi-final of the tournament, with the Arabs progressing after a 3-2 success.

They will play St Mirren in the final and it is due to be played on the weekend of March 25-26, with details of the match to be confirmed this week.

That however has freed up the March 25 date for both Dunfermline and Morton, who were scheduled to host St Mirren.

The Pars were due to travel to Cappielow on February 28 but, subject to league approval, they will now play each other on March 25 instead.

When Dunfermline's game with United does go ahead, it will be their third visit to the City of Discovery this season in league and cup.

After losing 2-0 in the Betfred Cup at the start of July, the Pars travelled north in November - a game that was also moved because of the Irn-Bru Cup - and, after playing much of the game with 10 men, narrowly lost 1-0.

No date has so far been set for the Queen of the South game. Pars return to action on Saturday in a live BBC Alba match at Hibernian.
