NEW under-21 cap Paul McMullan was thrilled to turn out for Scotland and admits he has his eye on more appearances.

And the 21-year-old said that he has the Pars to thank for his maiden appearance for the national team at that level.

On-loan Celtic winger McMullan, who had previously been capped for the under-16s, 17s and 19s, started last Tuesday’s friendly draw with Estonia before being taken off with half an hour to go.

He was back in the Athletic team for Saturday’s draw with Hibs and, speaking of his time with Scot Gemmill’s squad, he said: “It was something that I enjoyed and, now I’m back at Dunfermline, I think I can get these call-ups by doing well here. Dunfermline has been really good for me.

“I had a couple of loan spells last season (with St Mirren and Morton) that never really kicked off but, when I came here, after a slow start I have really got going. It has definitely helped push me on.

“It was a good experience, one I will learn from and hopefully push on. The first qualifier (for Euro 2019) is in September so I’d like to have a chance of being involved.”
