PROMISING teenager Paul Allan has committed his future to the Pars by signing a two-year contract with the club.

The 17-year-old, who has featured throughout the season for Dunfermline's under-20s, put pen to paper on Monday having progressed through the Fife Elite Football Academy (FEFA).

Last month Allan, who is mainly a central midfielder, was selected to travel to Lisbon for a month-long training camp with Benfica's academy and Stephen Wright, head of FEFA, told the Pars website: "Paul has come through that and done really well with the Fife Elite for the last two years. It has been a great success for the academy and for everybody involved.

"He reads the game so well and he has played up against so many bigger more physical players but he is able to cope. Even in the last few years he has played with Dunfermline 20s and coped really well.

"He is an intelligent player and we look forward to seeing how he progresses."

Under-20s coach John Potter added: "Football wise he is a clever player, he is clever off the pitch, he has a great attitude and wants to get better and do well. Put all that together then he has a good chance of making it to a professional football player.

"The manager chatted to him this morning and told him that if he was good enough, it is up to him to progress and try and make an impression right away. We will be patient with him, we don`t think that he will do it overnight, you never know but we will give him time and hopefully he will progress into a first team player for Dunfermline."
