Queen's Park 1-4 PARS, William Hill Scottish Cup third round

DUNFERMLINE will be in this afternoon's Scottish Cup fourth round draw after beating Queen's Park at Hampden on Saturday.

Second half goals from Nicky Clark, Jason Talbot, Andy Ryan and Declan McManus saw off the League One Spiders but the scoreline flattered Allan Johnston's team.

The home side, facing the Pars in Mount Florida for the first time since 1985, hit the woodwork twice and created some decent openings to ensure this third round tie was at times a nervy assignment.

With a home clash with Morton in the Championship to come tomorrow, Johnston named the same starting line-up as at Falkirk a fortnight previously but Dunfermline struggled to get going in a disappointing opening 45 minutes.

Sean Murdoch and Callum Morris had to be alert to block out James MacLennan early on before Lee Ashcroft's goal-bound header was cleared off the line by Conor McVey.

The impressive David Galt hit the woodwork with a cross that almost caught everyone out before Dominic Docherty blazed over after Murdoch was called upon to make a smart save.

But, three minutes after the break, the Pars took the lead when Joe Cardle's superb centre was met by Clark to head home his ninth goal of the season.

Dunfermline doubled their advantage 10 minutes later when Talbot's strike from range beat goalkeeper Michael White before Queen's quickly halved the deficit when Galt's free-kick was deflected into his own net by Ryan Williamson.

Docherty then struck the bar as the hosts chased an equaliser and Robbie Leitch should have got a shot away before Lee Ashcroft recovered well after the Spiders man intercepted Callum Morris' pass.

With 11 minutes left, Ryan netted on the rebound after fellow substitute Aaron Splaine - who hit the post with deflected effort - saw his shot palmed out by White.

With a minute left, McManus latched on to Adam Cummins' clearing header at the edge of the box to rifle home and seal Dunfermline's spot in round four.
