GOING retro has proved a hit with fans and now Athletic have bedded in another blast from the past off the pitch.

Nostalgic fans have flocked to buy new versions of kit from the down the years in recent times and now the club have gone back to the future by teaming-up with Thomsons World of Furniture.

The firm, which is based at Halbeath, have agreed a sponsorship agreement of two years with the Pars, having previously been their main shirt sponsor during the 1980s.

They will sponsor the club's official YouTube channel, carry out upgrades to the boardroom and hospitality areas within East End Park and are planning a series of matchday activities for fans during the second half of the season.

Michael Mlotkiewicz, Pars' general manager, said: "Many Pars Fans will remember Thomsons as being our shirt sponsor during the iconic 1988/89 season, when we won the old First Division. We are delighted to welcome Thomsons back to the club, and look forward to working with them on some exciting fan activities over the season ahead."

Jim Ballantyne, managing director of Thomsons World of Furniture, added: "As a local business which has been well served by the people of Dunfermline and its surrounding areas for many years, we are delighted to be showing our support for Dunfermline Athletic Football club. It’s a fantastic club with a proud history, which means a lot to the people of Dunfermline."
