PARS punters and players showed Christmas kindness as they came together to deliver more than 500kg of food for Dunfermline Foodbank.

The club teamed-up with the voluntary organisation to appeal to supporters to donate items ahead of December’s home fixtures with Queen of the South and Brechin City.

Between fans and the club, the equivalent of 36 three-day parcels – a total of 570kg of food – was collected.

That will provide more than 1,300 meals to help feed approximately 144 people in the local area, with supporters donating over 207kg of items, and the players and management donating 363kg.

Manager Allan Johnston and first-team stars Joe Cardle, Nat Wedderburn and Ryan Williamson helped deliver the donations just before Christmas Day and Matthew Ford, DAFC sales executive, said: “We would like to thank everyone who donated items over the December period. The fans have been very generous. No-one should be going hungry at Christmas. As a community club we are always delighted to have the opportunity to help families in the area.”
