THE Pars could face two successive weekends without a game after it was confirmed their clash with Inverness Caledonian Thistle this month is off.

The teams were due to meet at East End Park on February 17 but the game will now have to be rearranged due to the Highland club's involvement in the Irn-Bru Cup.

The semi-finals of the competition have been scheduled by the SPFL for that weekend, with Inverness meeting Northern Irish club Crusaders.

The Crues were in domestic League Cup action midweek and, had they won their last-four tie with Dungannon Swifts, the final would have been held on the same weekend as the Irn-Bru ties.

That would've meant the Pars would have been free to play the Caley Jags but a 2-1 defeat for Crusaders means they will now travel to the Caledonian Stadium on Sunday February 18.

Dunfermline, who travel to play Morton this Saturday, are also without a game next weekend (Saturday February 10).

That weekend is the date for the Scottish Cup fifth round, which Allan Johnston's team won't be involved in following their exit to the Greenock club last month.

There is the possibility of bringing forward the Inverness game, or fulfilling December's postponed game at Livingston, on that date with both of those clubs also out of the Scottish Cup.

However, Press Sport understands that the Pars are yet to hear from the SPFL whether a fixture will be scheduled for next weekend.
