PARS keeper Paul Gallacher has moved to reassure fans he wants to remain at East End Park despite being left in limbo after the club said he may be sold to meet budget cuts.

Gallacher was told by manager Jim McIntyre he might need to remove his keeper from the wage bill to free up cash to make any necessary new signings.

However the goalkeeper told Press Sport he remains keen to stay and help Dunfermline win promotion to the SPL and is still stunned at hearing the news.

He said, 'It caught me out the blue and was a phone call I wasn"t expecting and don"t think it was one the manager wanted to make. He said he"d been told by board members that he might have to cut his cloth accordingly with cut backs and if he could get a few boys off the wage bill then I fall into that category.'

Gallacher was warned a couple of days before the final game of the season that he may need to be sold.

'It is a strange situation I find myself in as at no point did I ever want to leave Dunfermline.

'They gave me the chance to get first team football again and I wanted to repay them with being part of a squad that got them promotion.

'I"m a Dunfermline player and until that changes I will continue to give my all for Dunfermline.

'We are obviously restricted in what we can bring in at the minute.

'If the manager is shrewd with his signings then we could get a good squad here.

'I would like to play in the SPL again but would like to do that with Dunfermline but that is outwith my control. Other things are dictating that I might be leaving.

'I just have to monitor the situation and see what happens.'

When asked if he expected to lose more players over the summer boss McIntyre said, 'We just need to wait and see.

'You can never tell. If somebody comes in with a bid for a player you never know what will happen but I am expecting to have the squad that I"ve got at the minute next year.'

Chairman John Yorkston said, 'There is a chance anybody could move on.

'If somebody offers me a million pounds then that player would be sold but at the moment Gallacher is signed for next year.'
