THE revolving door at East End Park is in full swing with Willie Gibson arriving just as goalkeeper Paul Gallacher prepares to pack his gloves.

The former Killie winger penned a two-year contract after the Pars paid a 'nominal fee' while a deal for former Airdrie midfielder Steven McDougall is still on the cards.

But Gallacher is certain to go and they"d prefer to get Stephen Glass off the wage bill too - although there are no takers so far.

Gibson told Press Sport, 'It"s a fresh start for me. I didn"t enjoy much of my time at Kilmarnock so I"m looking forward to it.

'My agent said Dunfermline and Partick had agreed a fee but it didn"t take long when I knew Jim McIntyre was interested.

'It"s a step down a division but hopefully I"ll add something to the team as I still believe in my own ability and I hope to play more regularly.

'The manager likes his team to attack, play good football and get the wide men involved so that suits me as I like to get at defenders.' Happy on the left or right wing, Gibson added, 'There"s loads of good players here and the fans expect so hopefully this will be our season to go up.' And although he"s known to wear brightly coloured boots, sporting pink footwear in some matches, he sighed, 'People make too much of that. If you"re going to have a good or bad game it doesn"t matter if they"re black or coloured boots.

'I"ll wear whatever colour I like and I"ll be bringing the same boots with me!' Boss Jim McIntyre said, 'We didn"t really have any width from October with Kevin Harper and Simon Wiles out so we"re delighted to get Willie.

'It"s a big thanks to the board, who really pushed the boat out, and we managed to stave off Partick Thistle in the process!' On Gallacher"s situation, McIntyre said, 'Obviously we"ll be needing a goalie if Paul leaves but there"s nothing as yet to announce.

'The financial situation has not changed and it will happen sooner rather than later.

'We know he"s going to leave at some stage so there"s one or two goalkeepers we"re looking at.' And he added, 'Stephen Glass was another one that was flagged up to try and move on but there"s no interest there.

'If that remains the case he"ll be an important member of my squad.

'The bottom line is I really rate Stephen as a footballer, he has great experience and pulls the strings in the midfield.' McIntyre confirmed that keeping Glass on the payroll will reduce his options for bringing in anyone else but that, from the team"s point of view, he"s happy for him to stay.

'I"ve got a budget to stick to and if no-one comes in for him I"ll just have to re-adjust,' he explained.

'But Stephen has another year left on his contract and if he stays he will stay in my team.' That could affect any deal for McDougall, especially as the compensation issue has yet to be resolved.

Airdrie believed they were due money and SFA rules haven"t clarified the matter, as they state clubs 'can be' entitled to compensation.

McIntyre expects a resolution soon but would only say, 'If we manage to get him we"ll be happy as he"s a player we like and another wide option.' Finances mean the chances of picking up any SPL bargains, due to the Setanta situation forcing top clubs to cut their squads, are slim to none.

McIntyre said, 'That won"t help at the moment as we"re at the peak of our budget in terms of who we"re bringing in. People would have to leave before we can bring anyone else in.

'We"ve got room to do something with a goalkeeper and possibly another player but that will be it.' But he added, 'There"s a lot to be positive about. I"m very happy with the way the squad is taking shape and look forward to working with them.' McIntyre lost experience in the shape of Greg Shields, Scott Wilson and Scott Thomson and said, 'It"s a younger side but I"m hoping to bring some flair to the team.

'With the injuries we"ve had we"re trying to reduce the average age of the squad although you still need experience.

'That should never be underestimated but we had a lot of experience last year and we came up short.'
