Active Nation Scottish Cup 5th round, Pars 2 Celtic 4
Andy Kirk fires home the penalty that gave the Pars a brief lead in the tie.
DUNFERMLINE bowed out of the Scottish Cup after being defeated by Celtic in a six-goal thriller yesterday (Sunday).
Celtic opened the scoring in the 20th minute after shoddy defending allowed Diomansy Kamara to poke in an easy goal but David Graham equalised a minute later after a cut back from Nick Phinn.
The Pars took the lead on 27 minutes, Andy Kirk converting from a penalty after Paul Caddis was judged to have pushed Steven Bell.
However, the Bhoys levelled two minutes from half-time when Morten Rasmussen stuck it home after a shaky defence failed to clear the danger.
With the Pars struggling with the pressure, Calum Woods scored an own goal - claimed by Rasmussen - in the 56th minute.
Robbie Keane scored his first goal for the Hoops from the spot 12 minutes later, after being brought down by Austin McCann.
Pars manager Jim McIntyre said, "I was really pleased with the way we came back into the game after losing the early goal.
"To then take the lead didn't surprise me because I thought we had our tails up at the time.
"But I just felt after we scored we sat too deep, Celtic controlled the game again and got the goal before half time.
"It would have been nice to go in at half time in front.
He added, "I said to the players before the game that you need to believe that you can get a result here today, because if you don't then you can end up on the end of a hiding.
"That's the quality that you are facing but I was very pleased with the way they approached the game."

Unlucky Dunfermline, I thought we put up a good fight and should certainly hold our heads up high after that performance. I think if we could of kept the lead until half time the result would of went our way but it just wasn't meant to be. No trip to Hampden for us this year then :(
