STEVEN Bell's wedding is set for a sunny Cyprus shore but he may be on duty on East End's own sandy "beach" if the league season is extended.

The horrified groom will be caught between fiancée Louise and boss Jim McIntyre if he's double booked on Friday 7th May due to the fixture chaos.

With so many matches still to be played after the winter freeze, it has been suggested the SFL season may have to be extended beyond Saturday 1st May.

Asked his thoughts, Bell said after the Airdrie home game, "Personally I'd want to keep going and get the games played - I've got a wedding booked!

"My heart dropped when they said the season might be extended.

"It's on 7th May and you need to be in Cyprus for three days before you can get married."

He added, "I'm sure I can sort something with the gaffer but if we've got a chance of winning the league it might be different.

"There's four of the boys going, Graeme Holmes, Nick Phinn, Joe Cardle and Alex Burke, so I hope it doesn't get extended."

Asked if he'd like to get married on the East End Park pitch instead, Bell laughed, "I'm not into that!

"I already spend enough time on the pitch - although it is like a beach and I'm getting married on a beach."
