PARS have swooped to sign Ross County hitman Andy Barrowman on a two-year deal but it's a "long shot" that Calum Woods will stay as the defender look set to return to England.

Boss Jim McIntyre took his signing spree to four players this week after agreeing deals with Paul Burns, Kevin Rutkiewicz, Paddy Boyle and now Barrowman, a striker who has also played for Birmingham and Inverness. Former Pars keeper Paul Gallacher has also been offered terms but it looks as if Woods has played his last game for the club, with Huddersfield Town set to sign up the Scouser.

Gallacher has turned down a new deal at St Mirren and McIntyre said, "Paul has been made an offer, which he is considering.

"I think he would give great competition but he's not my player and I don't want to talk about him. He's a player we've had talks with but that's it.

"I would say I want another three players and that will be us." He continued, "Calum Woods has received an offer from Huddersfield Town and the likelihood is he'll probably accept it.

"It's a long shot that Calum will be staying at Dunfermline. I'm afraid when teams from England are in it's very difficult." As for his new striker, McIntyre said, "Andy Barrowman is a player who did very well against us. Target men are hard to find, it's not easy, but we think he can do very well.

"He's always a player that's been in my thoughts.

"I tried to sign him once before when he was coming back from Inverness to Ross County but the length of deal didn't suit the boy, so he went there for more security.

"I absolutely like players that have a bit of hunger and have taken a couple of knocks. Hopefully they can show the second time around that they can play there."
