Pars away on first day - but against who?
PARS will travel to face Cowdenbeath, or possibly Kilmarnock, on the first day of the new Scottish football season.
The fixtures for the 2012-13 season were unveiled today and the one certainty is that Jim Jefferies men will definitely be away from home, but no-one is sure if they'll be at Central Park or Rugby Park.
There is confusion about what league Dunfermline will be playing in as there is a possibility that a 'newco' Rangers will not be admitted to the SPL - a decision is due on Wednesday 4th July.
In that scenario it is expected that either Dundee, who finished second in the first division, or Dunfermline, who were relegated from the top flight, will take the 12th place in the SPL.
If Jefferies men are in the SPL their first league match would be against Killie on Saturday 4th August.
Pars are, however, preparing for life in the first division and their first match is scheduled to be against last season's second division champions, and Fife rivals, Cowdenbeath on Saturday 11th August.
If there's no change the Blue Brazil will unfurl the title flag and then try to put a dent in Pars championship hopes with a first day victory.
Dunfermline's first league match at East End Park would be Saturday 18th August against Partick Thistle before travelling to face Dundee at Dens Park the following Saturday.
Another derby looms on Saturday 1st September when Raith are the visitors.
There's a festive double header with Falkirk the opponents on Boxing Day and Raith on Wednesday 2nd January - both at East End Park - with an away fixture on Saturday 29th December against Morton sandwiched in between.
The last game of the season would be against Dundee at home.

Report commentThe NEWCO fans arent being punished, its a new club who must apply to play football in Scotland, then its up to the member clubs & the SFA to deceide what if any division this new club will play in.
After the demise of the old club i would have thought The Pars would have stayed in the SLP though.

Report commentRangers supporters have done nothing wrong, (except try to threaten the rest of Scottish football that it'll all fall apart without them, ably assisted by the Scottish Football Authorities!) but the owners of their club have been up to all sorts of underhand, dodgy dealing for years, for their own gain, which has had a knock on effect on every other team in the league, not least of all the Pars. Therefore have to accept the consequences which in effect is the end of their club! Are the Newco still Rangers or are they like the MK Dons in England - A franchise to be bought and sold to the highest bidder.
