SPECIAL shirts that will be worn by Pars players during this month’s clash with Morton will be auctioned off to raise funds for Poppyscotland.

The club have commissioned 32 commemorative home shirts that will be embroidered with the charity’s logo and the poignant words ‘Lest We Forget’ that will be used for the game on 25th October, which is the closest home match to Rememberance Sunday.

After the match 30 of the tops, which are one-offs and will not be on general sale, will be signed by Pars players, management and a selection of club legends to be sold in a secret auction co-ordinated by Pars Supporters Trust member Kenny Mclachlan via the fans website www.dafc.net. Pars legends who have autographed the shirts for fans to snap up include Allan Evans, Harry Melrose, Ian Westwater, Roy Barry and Istvan Kozma.

Of the remaining two shirts, one will be retained by the Pars as a historical reference and will be placed in an area within East End Park, while the Pars Supporters Trust have agreed to match the lowest bid in the auction process for the remaining shirt. It will then be put up for raffle at £1 a stake to allow all fans the chance to win a shirt, with the proceeds from the raffle going to the club via the PST.

Bids for the auction have now commenced and can be made by emailing kenny.mclachlan7@googlemail.com and he will let you know by return if your bid is in the top 30. The auction will close at 8pm on Friday 24th October.

The iconic shirts were revealed in August during a commemorative World War One day held at East End Park to remember the role of Dunfermline Athletic and the wider West Fife community during the conflict.
