FOR two seasons, he may have been “one of our own” as the terrace chant went but former Pars midfielder Stephen Husband won’t have time for sentiment when he returns to East End on Saturday with top-of-the-table Forfar.

Kelty-born Husband spent two years at Dunfermline, making more than 60 appearances for the club before joining Forfar in July.

“It’s good to be doing well with Forfar,” he told Press Sport. “We’ve been playing some good stuff so it’s set to be a good game on Saturday.

“I played against a few of the boys earlier in the season and I still speak to quite a few of them but the friends thing can wait till afterwards!

“Forfar is my employer now and I’ve got friends at clubs all over the league, not just Dunfermline, so you just have to do your job and get your team the three points.” Husband has seen highs and lows with the Pars, including relegation back in 2013 and being part of the team that stormed to second in the league behind Rangers last season. He’s not surprised to see his old team challenging at the top again and knows that with only a single point separating Forfar from the Pars, it is important for his new side to keep pushing.

“Everyone expected the full-time teams, Morton and Dunfermline, to be up there,” he said. “But we’ve had solid performances and we need to keep picking up the points.” Although he admits he’s looking forward to returning to East End Park, Husband insists that he’s there to win first and foremost.

“It’s always good playing at East End, there’s always a good crowd but it will be a bit different being on the other side,” he said.

“I enjoyed my time there but all I’m focused on now is getting the three points.”
