PARS boss Jim Jeffries is predicting that today’s top-of-the-table clash with Forfar Athletic will be a “cracker”, with both teams vying to take top spot in the League One table.

The Pars are on a great run of form, taking 18 points from their last seven games, but visitors Forfar will be looking to extend their lead at the top and Jeffries knows that both teams will be out to win.

“It will be a good game for both clubs,” he told Press Sport. “Both are at the top end of the table and there’s lots of incentives to win.

"We’ve had some keenly-fought matches and they got the better of us earlier in the season but we’ve won six out of our last seven league games.

"We’re on a good run and in good form going into this but so are Forfar, so it should be a cracker.” Although his side have a great opportunity to leapfrog the Loons and go top of the league, Jeffries pointed out that the title wouldn’t be decided this weekend.

“Nothing will be decided on Saturday, there’s still a long, long way to go and we’ve got to keep it going,” he said.

“But it is a big game. They’ve got a lot of experienced players but we’re confident and playing well. We know we’re a good side and everybody gives us the tag of favourites.

"This year the expectation is quite rightly on us and we have to deal with that. But we’ve had six clean sheets in our last nine league games – we’ve made a reasonable start and we want to keep it going.

“But the same goes for Forfar – they’re a good team with good players and we’ll have to deal with that on Saturday. If we do, we can keep our momentum.” Ryan Thomson is still out with a hamstring tear, while Stuart Urquhart is a doubt with a groin strain. However, Lewis Martin has returned from Scotland under-21s duty and skipper Andy Geggan should be fresh and ready to return after his lay-off.
