The Binos confirmed the move this morning (Thursday) and he is set to go into their squad for their clash with at Airdrieonians on Saturday.
The 24-year-old, who joined Athletic from Stranraer in the summer, has struggled to repeat the form that saw him included in the SPFL League One team of the year last term.
He has made 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals, and his last game for the club was in last month's 2-0 defeat to Morton at Cappielow.
Stirling signed a one-year deal with the Pars with the option of a 12-month extension.
