ROSS MILLEN insists that the Pars squad take any jeers on the chin – but is desperate to give their followers reasons to cheer.

The 20-year-old full back admits he has been aware of frustrations in the stands following a difficult season but he believes that his team-mates can take heart from Saturday’s win at Stenhousemuir and turn their supporters’ frowns into smiles.

Millen has been a consistent name on the team sheet throughout the season and was delighted to play his part in recording a 10th clean sheet of the season as the Pars moved to within four points of Brechin City ahead of this Saturday’s home clash with Morton.

Asked about whether criticism from the stands can affect the squad, he told Press Sport, “It’s not something that particularly bothers me to be honest because you just have to go out there and play your game. It’s part and parcel of being a footballer and if you can’t deal with the pressure then you shouldn’t be here.

“When things aren’t going well then you are aware that the fans will get frustrated but they’ve been great all season and it’s up to us to give them something to shout about and hopefully we can do that on Saturday.

“We know that we haven’t played well enough throughout the season but it was an important result for us on Saturday and now we need to take that forward into the Morton game. We’ve never lost belief and it’s going to be a difficult game but we’re confident that we can win games and get ourselves in there.” The Pars have been beaten in each of their three matches with the Greenock side so far this season – despite Millen netting a penalty in September’s 2-1 reverse at Cappielow – and he expects another tough test this weekend.

“We can only look after ourselves and taking each of our games is all we can do. There’s no point in looking to see what other teams do unless we do our job but we’ve gone a few games unbeaten now so confidence is still high in the dressing room.

“Morton are a good team but if we play like we can we can get a good result.”
