THE Pars will kick off their competitive season with a trip to Arbroath in the first round of the Petrofac Training Cup.

The draw for the competition was made earlier this afternoon and handed Allan Johnston's men a trip to Gayfield on 25th July in the northern section of the draw.

Athletic could well boast two defending champions in their ranks for the tie, with new signings Jason Talbot and Callum Fordyce both featuring in Livingston's 4-0 Petrofac Cup final victory over Alloa Athletic last season, with Fordyce scoring Livi's second goal.

It's a return to Gayfield for Pars' midfielder Josh Falkingham and it's the first time the sides have met since clashing in League One during the 2013-14 season. The Pars won three of the four encounters: 3-0 home and away and 2-1 towards the end of the season at Gayfield but were on the wrong end of a surprise 3-2 reverse at East End Park at the beginning of a season in which the Angus outfit were relegated and the Pars finished runners-up to Rangers.
