The 26-year-old has penned a one-year deal at East End Park to team up with manager Allan Johnston for a second time after their spell at Palmerston.

Paton, who started his career at Aberdeen, moved to Dumfries in February 2013 following his release from the Pittodrie club and went on to help the Doonhamers lift the Second Division title and Petrofac Training Cup that season.

The midfielder, who can play on either flank or in an attacking midfield role, made 50 appearances for Queens, scoring four goals, and could make his Pars debut in this Saturday's pre-season friendly at East Fife.

We will have more on this story, and an interview with the new signing, in this Thursday's Dunfermline Press.
