Both players have returned to East End Park for a second spell having impressed on trial and are set to feature in tomorrow's home friendly with Hibernian.

Cardle (28, pictured) spent four years with the Pars after joining in 2009, helping them to the First Division title in 2011, but was one of 11 players released when the club plunged into administration in 2013.

He went on to play for Raith Rovers and Ross County but after signing on the dotted line, he told Press Sport, "It's going to be pretty surreal but don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to tomorrow and I can't wait. Everything seems surreal, even being out there getting the pictures taken with the jersey felt strange, but it's a great feeling and I'm delighted to be back. I feel like I'm at home."

Murdoch (28) came through the youth ranks with Athletic but made just eight appearances for the club - including the first leg of a UEFA Cup tie with BK Hacken in 2007 - before joining Hamilton Academical.

Spells with Accrington Stanley and Hibernian followed before he moved to America, playing for New York City and Rochester Rhinos.

We will have full interviews with both players in next Thursday's Dunfermline Press.
