THE festive party mood begins this weekend as the latest event to the city’s Winter Festival is launched.

Dunfermline Live! is a week of entertainment, amid the Christmas shopping fever.

Running from 13th to 21st November, the event features a great line up of musical entertainment, food, cooking, wine, dance, art, craft and celebration.

Here’s the Live! rundown: November 13th - Pittencrieff Park 9am - 2pm - Dunfermline Live Launch Christopher Trotter, Fife’s very own celebrity chef, will launch Dunfermline Live! with a Festival of Food at the Farmers Market. Passionate about fresh seasonal local produce, he will showcase the best available in Dunfermline, producing mouthwatering dishes to suit all budgets with help from Reubens Deli and Bistro in the New Row, T Johnston’s Butcher in the High Street, Ferguson’s in East Port and The Fish Shop in Bruce Street and David Austin who will share his wine expertise along with a taster session. (Free Event) The Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra will provide the background music to add to the occasion.

November 13th - 21st This is CAD! Unit 22, Kingsgate Shopping Centre 10am - 4pm Explore and experiment with your artistic side! Doodles and charcoals and so much more in daily art workshops for young and old. Crackleheat Productions will keep the kids enthralled with their imaginative and interactive story telling on the 20th November. (FREE EVENT) November 14th November - Carnegie Hall, 7.30pm Julian Lloyd Webber: Travels with my Cello Julian Lloyd Webber takes on a unique musical journey through his amazing career. In words, live performance and video he explores his collaboration with an extraordinary array of musicians from Yehudi Menuhin, Joaquin Rodrigo and Georg Solti to Stephane Grappelli, Elton John and Cleo Laine. With Pam Chowhan at the piano, Julian will play a selection of his favourite pieces interspersed with anecdotes about his musical life. November 18th - Pink String & Sealing Wax, Bridge Street - Through the Window, noon - 3pm Christopher Trotter will demonstrate live from the window of Pink String and Sealing Wax, showcasing the produce of local suppliers. Working with the appliances and crockery on sale in the shop Christopher will produce a medley of dishes served up with carefully selected wines. Emma MaCallum from Tea Lightful will be demonstrating her cupcake and sugar craft decorating skills. (FREE EVENT) November 18th -Dunfermline Abbey - George Heriot’s School Chamber Choir - 7pm - 8pm Led by Mrs Judith Buttars, The Chamber Choir will fill Dunfermline Abbey with glorious music. This concert will include a soloist mixture performing works by David Willcocks, John Rutter, Peter Warlock and many more. (FREE EVENT) November 18th - Alhambra Theatre, Christmas with the Rat Pack - Doors: 7pm, Show: 7.30pm Beat the winter blues with the special Christmas version of the hit show for the festive season. Take a trip back in time to the glamorous, glitzy nights of Las Vegas in the late 1950s and early 60s where, in the company of three of the world’s most popular entertainers, the fabulous Burrelli Sisters and The Rat Pack Big Band, you will experience Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr & Dean Martin performing at the famous Sands hotel.

November 20th - 21st - Carnegie Library- All fired up for Christmas Exhibitions of pottery, artwork and photos by Cone 8.

November 20th - Pittencrieff Park, Craft Fair, Food Fayre and Christmas Workshops - Noon - 4pm Two marquees will exhibit the best in locally available seasonal food, drink and arts and crafts, giving visitors the chance to watch, make, taste, shape and enjoy!

For all those young, budding musicians there is an Open Mic Session in front of a live audience! A music workshop, hosted by local musician, Clive Price, will help tune up song-writing skills and introduce visitors to basic banjo lessons along with an Alternative Tune In Workshop - The Dropped D!

Fife Dance Academy, a brand Dunfermline new dance studio, just back from Broadway success in America, will be on stage to showcase the best of Jazz, Hip Hop, Street and Broadway dance steps.

Meanwhile, Santa will be patiently waiting in his grotto to receive all his Christmas letters while live bands entertain all day. (FREE EVENT) November 21st -Pittencrieff Park and High Street- Festival of Food Finale &Christmas Light Switch On Entertainment - Noon - 6pm Magician, Mick Magic, Dingo Dave from the Forth 1 Breakfast Show and the Boogie & Dingo Big Saturday Show, along with broadcasting legend Donny Hughes, will make sure that everyone has fun and gets into the festive spirit right through the afternoon.

Fife Dance Academy will open the fun at noon and then Christopher Trotter hosts Dunfermline’s very own Ready Steady Cook 'cook off’ alongside two local chefs- Stuart Renton from the Old Inn and Christiano Guarnacci from Taurasi Restaurant. Christopher will also roll up his sleeves and offer up his culinary expertise for a live kid’s cookery session, all on the main stage at the Glen Gates.

Santa will lead the Christmas parade through the High Street for the big Christmas Lights Switch on will be at 6pm.

Later in the Abbey, at 7.30pm the sound of 16th century Scotland will come alive to mark the 450th anniversary of the Scottish Reformation of 1560. The Abbey will be filled the choral music of Dunfermline composer Jhone Angus (1515-1596) and interspersed with the fiery words of the burgh’s first protestant minister, David Fergusson, and the passionate spiritual poetry of Elizabeth Melville, Lady Culross, read by her editor, Dr Jamie Reid Baxter.
