WHEN dead people talk through Nikki MacKay you can be sure she'll repeat exactly what's being said ... even if it's the unpleasant truth.
"At one event, the old caretaker of the venue came through and started slagging off the management who I didn't realise were sitting in the front row," the Glaswegian psychic medium told the Press ahead of her Dead Men Talking show at the Carnegie Hall next Thursday.
"So I think it would be better if I could censor myself but it tends to take over you.
"You take on the (person's) physical characteristics - so if they had a sore back I'm hunched over and saying what they are saying and after I think, 'God, maybe I shouldn't have said that'."
For those sceptical about the realm of mediumship, they may be surprised Nikki's educational background is strongly scientific.
She worked as a medical physicist at Glasgow's Southern General hospital before setting up a holistic retreat with friend Oona McFarlane.
Her research has led to the publication of The Science of Family, which looks at the physical and spiritual impact our ancestors continue to have on us down the generations.
As well as being an experienced psychic medium (she once gave a policewoman a reading while a pupil on a school tour of the local police station) she is also a sound therapist, reiki master and editor of The Witch Hiker's magazine.
Now West Fifers can see and hear for themselves Nikki's gift as she attempts to "bear witness" to the dead and give them a voice at the Carnegie Hall.
"I tend to get folk from the other side coming through who have a wee bit of unfinished business or things they want to clear up in their family," she said.
"When the message comes through and it involves something like family secrets the audience picks up on that energy and it can get a bit tense.
"But people relish the opportunity to see into other people's lives as well. I think some people are relieved when it's not them in the spotlight."
It can also get scary.
She added, "Once I had someone who had been murdered and the case was still open and he came through to talk about that.
"I've also had someone coming through while I was doing a show who said their death was put down as a suicide but they were very adamant it was actually a diving accident."
The 32-year-old believes everyone has the ability to make the most of their own psychic intuition and will be passing on tips on how to achieve it.
She added, "Even walking into a room where people have been arguing, you can get a sense of that right away.
"There's a lot of subtle overtones you can pick up and it can be helpful to develop an interest in your own intuition so you can use it in your everyday life."
Dead Men Talking takes place at The Carnegie Hall on Thursday 4th February at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12 and are available from the box office on 602302.

My mum and I went to this show and it was complete rubbish! They two ladies were total fakes! They gave 2/3 messages at the start of the show, which werent for anybody!
They then gave up on that and decided to go through peoples family history by using volunteers from the audience and proceeded to constantly ask them how they felt standing on stage,"how do you feel on your right side? How do you feel on your left side?" there was absolutly nothing physic about this!
I feel genuinely sorry for the people who had turned up that night hoping for a messgae from a loved one but instead got two women fobbing them off!
I have to say Carnegie Hall has dealt with it really well and has given a full refund!
