Crayons brighten up 'Greytown'

AN INNOVATIVE project to promote local bands in Dunfermline is being launched with a gig featuring last year's 'T in the Park' stars Crayons tonight.
The band were chosen to play on the 'T Break' stage and lead singer Sean DeFrancesco is behind the new club night 'Proud to be Loud'.
It is part of the Greytown Sound project Sean has started with his friend Steven Ness, both sound engineering students at Adam Smith College.
Crayons, Astrid & Quinn, The Lipstick Tearaways - all from Dunfermline and special psychedelic guests The Merrylees, from Edinburgh, will be performing at PJ Molloys tonight (Friday).
Sean and Steven have produced a CD of material from all four bands and it will be given away free to everyone who attends.
"THe name 'Greytown' is ironic because we want to bring a bit of colour and to encourage local bands," said Sean.
"It will take place around every two months and will be mainly for local bands but we'll also will bring in some from other places.
"There's not the same facilities and venues here as there are in Glasgow and Edinburgh and we want to provide a new platform.
"The CD means that people can listen to the bands later. They may get drunk on the night but they've still got the music to go back to later. We want to encourage local bands and also bring bands to Dunfermline.
"People always talk about the old days and how things were good back then for bands and we want to make it happen again now."
