NEW York band Lucius, who make their first visit to Scotland this month, have just released an enchanting album in ‘Wildewoman’.

Blonde duo Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig combine to deliver stunning vocals and overall the band has a fresh, uplifting sound.

Press:ON caught up with guitarist Andrew Burri after they arrived in London to start their European tour.

He said, “I can’t wait to go to Scotland. I’ve always wanted to go there. There’s lots of places over here I’ve never been before.

“We’ve previously done a few dates in France and the Netherlands in the fall and this is our second visit to Europe.

The soon-to-be-mega band are Jess, Holly, Andrew, Dan Molad (drums) and Peter Lalish (guitar).

“We all went to the same music school in Boston but at different times,” Andrew continued. “The girls met there, Pete and Danny met there as well.

"Both of those encounters were years apart from each other. I didn’t meet any of these guys there. I met Danny later in New York so I was the last one to come into the group.

“The girls had all these songs but once Danny started to record them they would experiment with all sorts of sounds.

“In his previous bands they would explore a lot in the studios to get cool sounds with drums and guitars so he already had a good palette for it.

“He took the girls songs and put that touch on it. It lended itself to that throw-back to the ‘60s but also to the ‘80s and stuff like that.” Andrew loves life in the band. “I’m a traveller to begin with so one of the best things is to be able to see all different parts of my own country and then coming over here for the first time.

“It’s a blessing to be able to travel around the world playing music.” Despite the nods to previous eras they have an originality and a drive to innovate which sets them apart. You can catch them at Stereo, Glasgow, on 20th April.
