DUNFERMLINE band The Moon Kids warm up for their big T in the Park date by launching their debut EP at PJ Molloys.

It’s only 18 months since the band - Dave Barr, Taylor Wright, Rory Buchanan and Magnus Collie - played their first gig and they were quickly making an impact landing a support spot with Shed Seven in their second appearance.

They are already looking forward to playing at Balado next month after earning a slot in the T Break stage and there is lot more happening.

They have released their self-titled five-track EP and recently played at the prestigious music industry festival GoNorth in Inverness.

The band have also recorded five tracks and an interview for the Alba TV programme ‘Rapal’ following in the footsteps of Twin Atlantic and Frightened Rabbit.

The band’s singer and songwriter Dave Barr said, “Last year we were out on the gigs circuit slogging away and I think we’re now getting our reward for the hard work we’ve put in.” Having been at every T since he was 12, Dave is understandably delighted at being chosen to go there as a performer this year.

He said, “We’re over the moon to be chosen for T in the Park. Every band wants to play there and it will be great for us.

“We’re all buzzing about it. Rory our drummer’s already been at T in the Park a couple of times when he was with Sergeant so he’s a veteran." Dave’s a prolific writer and is already looking ahead to the day when they release their first album.

“I pick up the guitar and write every day. I’ve always got ideas going around in my head. We’ve got tons of songs recorded, enough for two albums but we just wanted to get the timing right.” The new EP features the tracks ‘Rollercoaster People’, ‘Carousel’, ‘Sunpool Eyes’, ‘Lunar Park’ and ‘Dizzy Days’.
