Scottish Water Strategic Plan: A Sustainable Future Together Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005 Screening Determination
In accordance with Section 8 (1) of the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005, Scottish Water has formally determined, in consultation with Historic Environment Scotland, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and Scottish Natural Heritage that Scottish Waters' Strategic Plan is unlikely to lead to significant environmental effects.
Whilst the Strategic Plan will set the future direction of travel for Scottish Water's future operations, the objectives and commitments within the plan are high-level in nature. This does not mean no environmental effects will result from the Strategic Plan, rather despite its clear environmental focus, it is not possible to assess significant likely effects due to the high level nature of the plan. Statement of reasons:
? The Strategic Plan will not set a framework for the future consent of development projects

? The Strategic Plan is of a high level nature, and therefore at this stage, it is not possible to identify specific likely effects.

? Any such effects would depend on how the plan is implemented and will be assessed, as appropriate, in implementation plans.

Therefore, no environmental report will be prepared alongside the Strategic Plan.
A copy of the determination is available to view on our website
