Procession) (Temporary Traffic Regulation)
Order 2016
The Scottish Borders Council have made the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, with the consent of Scottish Ministers under Section 16B(6)(b). The Order, which has a maximum duration of one day, will come into force at 15:00 on 31 December 2016 and is expected to remain in effect until 19:30. The closure is required to facilitate the holding of a relevant event, being the Peebles Hogmanay Torchlight Procession. When the Order comes into effect no person shall:
(a) drive, or cause, or permit to be driven any vehicle along the following streets

in Peebles:
(i) High Street, from outside Number 48 High Street to the pedestrian crossing, between the hours of 17:30 and 19:30. The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via High Street, Cuddy Bridge, Old Town, Young Street, March Street, Edinburgh Road, Innerleithen Road and Eastgate to the point of closure, for westbound traffic via Eastgate, Innerleithen Road, Edinburgh Road, March Street, Montgomery Place, Cross Street, Elcho Street Brae, Old Town, Cuddy Bridge and High Streetto the point of closure; and

(ii) Tweed Bridge, Port Brae from Tweed Bridge to High Street, and High Street from Port Brae to Number 48 High Street, between the hours of 18:15 and 19:00. These closures will only come into effect when instructed by a police officer in uniform; and

(b) permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked along:

(i) High Street, from outside Number 48 High Street to the pedestrian crossing between the hours of 15:00 and 19:30; and

(ii) Tweed Bridge, between the hours of 16:00 and 19:30

Pedestrian access will be maintained.
